When we first heard that Sony was discontinuing the Sony HXR-NX5 which was extremely popular, dare I say the most popular camcorder in our region in terms for the pro users that use these type of video camera. We could not understand the logic, why kill a model that was so good? 

Well now Sony added an R to the model we all liked, The Sony HXR-NX5R Pal version for us here. Just like the NX3 and NX5 before , the modles are region specific. Like the one in the US would be NTSC 

XAVC S
1920 x 1080p: 59.94/29.97/23.98 (50 Mb/s)

AVCHD
1920 x 1080p: 59.94 - PS mode (28 Mb/s)

In The Asia Pacific mostly would be the PAL version

XAVC S 1920 x 1080p: 50/25/23.98 (50 Mb/s) AVCHD 1920 x 1080p: 50 - PS mode (28 Mb/s) 1920 x 1080i: 50/25p/23.98p - FX mode (24 Mb/s), FH mode(17 Mb/s) 1440 x 1080i: @50 - HQ mode (9 Mb/s), LP mode (5 Mb/s) 1280 x 720p: 50 - FX mode (24 Mb/s), FH mode (17 Mb/s), HQ mode (9 Mb/s) DV 720 x 576i: 50 (25 Mb/s

The HXRNX5R has the features of the NX3 but with the output that it lacks, SDI.

So the main difference would be comparing to NX3 would be SDI output

Compared the the NX5 the R model gets
